Bon Ami

Bon Ami, you hear me talking about it occasionally but do you really know what Bon Ami is and why I use it.

I switched from Bar Keepers Friend to Bon Ami back in the summer after I came across the product at the Ideal Home Show. I am so pleased I discovered this product as I used to use a lot of Bar Keepers and after using I did used to feel a little unwell and it used to really get to the back of my throat.

As much as I love cleaning and using lots of different products I am really trying to switch to more natural cleaning products and methods.

Bon Ami powder cleanser is a natural home cleaner

Bon Ami Powder Cleanser has been a household favourite since 1886 and is huge in America. You cab feel confident that Bon Ami is safe to use around family members and pets and excels at cleaning everything from dried-on food to scuff marks and is gentle enough for most hard surfaces.

  • Nontoxic
  • Biodegradable
  • Natural soft abrasives (feldspar and limestone)
  • Absorbs odours
  • Effective on kitchen, cookware & bath surfaces

It contains no detergent, bleach, fragrances or dyes. It only contains these five ingredients: Limestone, Feldspar, Surfactant, soda ash and sodium bicarbonate.

How to use

Simply sprinkle onto a wet surface and rub with a wet sponge or cloth. If you are cleaning a more delicate surface sprinkle onto a wet sponge and apply to the surface making sure to use lots of water. Do not use on windows, glass or any surfaces that come with warnings against using abrasive cleaners.

Where to use

Hard kitchen & bath surfaces such as sinks, bath tubs, tiles, pots & pans, cookware, bake ware, utensils, most work surfaces, chrome, taps and coffee pots.

Delicate kitchen & bath surfaces Some granite & marble surfaces: Always test first in an inconspicuous area, then sprinkle Bon Ami onto a wet sponge, use plenty of water, rub gently, and rinse.

Bon Ami Red

Also don’t forget there is the Bon Ami Red which is a little less abrasiveness and is really good at cleaning off make-up and dealing with scuff marks on painted wood. It can also be used on glass mirrors and glass splash backs plus its great at polishing old crockery. Its also great on brushed stainless steel.

When using Bon Ami you only need a really small amount as a little really does go along way. What I also love is the packaging is environmentally friendly. It is made from recycled materials and can be recycled after use.
