Cleaning the inside of your car.

We can spend quite a bit of time in our cars so its important that the space we sit in whilst driving or being a passenger is just as clean as your home. The seats will be worn down from daily use and its important to keep them looking good.

Cars pick up dirt very easily.  Our shoes, coats and bags will be carrying dirt in all the time, along with any passengers.

Sundays is my car cleaning day and its take me around 15 minutes if I left it longer than a week I would probably be out there a lot longer, but I am not one for getting cold so the quicker the better for me! My car cleaning is really simple I have put together what I do and if done on a regular basis you shouldn’t need to do much more than this.

Firstly I get together the items listed below and take them all outside so I am organised and don’t have to keep going back into the house. Its good to get yourself an empty caddy or tub so that these items are easily accessible every time you do it.

Vacuum cleaner

Carrier bag for rubbish

Laundry detergent or an upholstery cleaner

Leather cleaner

Dash board cleaner

Febreeze or Dettol spray

Glass cleaner.

Soapy warm water and a sponge

Old Tea towel.

1 – Firstly I start by getting any rubbish that has accumulated over the week.

2 – Then any car mats will come out and have a good wash and then will be left to dry.

3 – Time for the vacuum, this includes headrests, the floor and all the seats.  Getting into all those nooks and crannies.  I always use the VAX cordless air for this job as its so easy to take outside and so light to use. http://www.vax.co.uk/vacuum-cleaners/cordless-vacuum-cleaners/air-cordless-lift-off-vacuum-cleaner

4 – Then I will get my upholstery cleaner and spray all over the seats and with a damp cloth I will carefully wipe the seats making sure I remove all the product.  For any leather bits I will use the leather cleaner.  I normally use Vanish carpet mousse for this. http://www.vanish.co.uk/products/carpet-cleaners/vanish-gold-carpet-care-foam/

5 – With the windows I will go over with the soapy water and then buff dry with the tea towel. Then I will go over again with the glass cleaner.

6 – I then use a Dash board cleaner for the dashboard. Halfords do a great one. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/interior-cleaning-vacuums

7 – For the steering wheel I wipe down with the warm soap water and then dry with the tea towel.

Then for the outside of my car I leave my husband to do this with the pressure washer!

Hope this simple quick routine helps you.

Thanks for reading.
